The first thing you need to do is to recover your phone and get it out from the water as soon as possible. If your phone stays in water for more time, a large quantity of water will seep inside and increase the damage.

If you have removable battery, take it out as soon as possible. If the battery is non removable, switch off it first which shutdowns the internal circuit and prevent short-circuiting the device. If you do this, the inner electrical component of phone cannot be damaged.

After removing the battery or switching it off takeout removable components like simcard, memory card and protective cases. Wipe the phone with clean towel and make sure that no water gets into the ports of phone further. Now you have to dry your phone.
